Agenda Highlights

In the construction of cold-formed steel (CFS) projects, contractors and drywall subcontractors are typically required to hire a specialty engineer to perform the delegated design of the structural CFS framing. But what risks does the contractor take in hiring the delegated design engineer under their contract? Is the contractor responsible or liable if there are design mistakes by the specialty engineer and is the specialty engineer responsible if the contractor doesn’t build something correctly? What is that certificate of insurance (COI) that projects require of the specialty engineer and what do all of those different insurance policies cover? Who can be considered an “additionally insured party”, and how does that differ from a “certificate holder”?

This presentation will discuss all of the questions above, and also answer any other questions regarding risk, liability and insurance on CFS projects.
